AdInf Dev Journals #5: DDED Development + Updates
Games Mentioned
- Doomsday Everyday
In my last post, I detailed my plans for a text-based post-apocalyptic RPG. For about a month I developed the game intensely, creating a backend of game mechanics, menus, and content using Twine’s strength of hyperlink-focused syntax. After being pre-occupied with a long month at my day job, I’m returning to the project and hoping to get the build to the point of being a fully playable demo 🙂
Play the pre-alpha here (play til the area with the Set Module option to access a work-in-progress demo stage)
Initial prototype goals:
Key: Completed In-progress/Pending
- Pre-alpha posted on my other site https://www.whataremyodds.app/dded-pre-alpha
- Barebones character creation including:
- Classes, skills, and held items

- Boot-up screen, main menu, HUD with journal and other player progress resources, dialogue foundations
- Created 40 pages containing content to be displayed using a module format (ex. displaying the HUD ‘page’ on non-dialogue passages)
- Began optimizations for mobile/desktop adjustments for user experience.
- Implementing:
- Creating chapter 1 in Twine for demo
- Consider further macro-plan for project
- Figure out how stat calculations will work
- Create a good home screen for the game and play around with .css options
- Later:
- A lot more!

Aside from DDED, I am currently learning more about C# .NET Core for my SWE role :D
That’s all! Will work on getting back into the flow of the project and working off the foundation I have built.
